House Resolution 888

Okay... I found this discomforting. Thoughts?http://paganwiccan.about.com/b/2008/01/14/house-resolution-888-us-r-a-religious-nation.htm

Google it.

I also wanted to say that i am starting to get extremely annoyed with people and thier gullibility as well as stupidity and misinformation that they like to spill all over the place. This week alons I had to correct 3 things that people said because they were so historically incorrect it was rediculous. I also want to rant about people using words that they have no clue what they mean and instead of looking up the definition in a dictionary or online for that matter they just kinda make up thier own definition.

This evening I was particularly disturbed by this journal entry:

It's the FIRST one!

I was shocked the first time. I laughed the second time. I was a little concerned the third time. Now I'm downright worried.
I have recently come across several journals where posters have asserted that "separation of church and state" is not in the constitution. Some have implied it's something "made up by the ACLU". Others have claimed the "first amendment card is over-played" and made other comments downplaying freedom of speech and religion.
Just for the record, this is the First Amendment to the US Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
No, the words "separation of church and state" are not in it. That phrase was actually coined by Thomas Jefferson in an 1802 letter. But the "separation" concept defined by the first amendment is the basis for all laws in this country pertaining to freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom to question our leaders.
These are arguably the MOST IMPORTANT words ever written pertaining to American government and freedom.
How can you NOT know them and what they mean?
I am always saddened and worried when people take these and other constitutional rights for granted.
But I am even more apalled that there are people who seem to want to do away with them all together. Though I'm sure they only want to deny them to "others" while staying firmly nestled in their protections themselves.
I see dark and Orwellian possibilities ahead.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ~ Edmund Burke

With all the intelligent human beings in this nation why are these things happening? Someone please answer me. I went to a public school and I know what the first amendment. What do we do ?
